Solo Travel in India: What I Wish I Knew Before My First Trip

My first solo trip taught me more in ten days than years of group trips had. Some of it I figured out as I went; some of it I really wish someone had told me beforehand.
You'll Move at a Completely Different Pace
Without anyone else's preferences to balance, plans change constantly — and that's a feature, not a problem. Build a loose plan, not a fixed one.
Talking to Strangers Gets Easier, Not Harder
Traveling with a group tends to keep you inside that group. Traveling alone nudges you to talk to hotel staff, other travelers, and locals far more than you would otherwise — which ends up being one of the best parts of the whole trip.
Share your daily plans with someone back home
Keep a physical copy of important documents separate from your phone
Trust hesitation — if a place or situation feels off, leave
Solo travel isn't riskier than group travel so much as it asks you to be a little more deliberate. Once that clicks, it's hard to go back.
